We belong to a generation that moves along with technology. With a tap on our keyboards or phones, we find answers to our queries from the internet. We dream big and worry about what the future will bring us.
Our elders think we have gone mad, our eyes glued to mobile phones and laptops, or our ears plugged to music disregarding conversations around us. We multitask a lot, some of us are similar to athletes who keep rehearsing to achieve perfection. Others are super fast, the worriers, who think of several plans from A to Z and are too eager to finish what is given; while a large percentage will finish tasks at the last minute, activate their adrenal gland to accomplish the task hurriedly. This is who we are, the children of technology and ingenuity.
The pandemic, which had us labeled as “home buddies,” made us appreciate movies, read books, and hone our skills and hobbies. We have survived, became practical, understood the significance of thrift, and learned to be more cautious with our health.
Today, we are confronted with the forthcoming elections, evaluating which among the political candidates can truly govern our country. Most of us are first-time voters who must select wisely and confirm our beliefs by facts and not by opinions or fake news.
We are also compassionate and think of the welfare of those in the war zones. We watch how things unfold and what policies are crafted because these will greatly affect the path that we will tread in the future. Yes, we are the new breed of Filipinos: we are indeed the young and the restless.
