Duterte’s attacks irrelevant to the issue

/ 04:01 AM September 14, 2021

The Senate blue ribbon committee headed by Sen. Richard Gordon is investigating the alleged overpriced purchases of pandemic supplies last year by the current administration. As a response, President Duterte accused Gordon of using the Red Cross for the elections and as a milking cow.

Even if the President’s accusations are true, the Senate investigation should not stop. The senator may turn out to be a corrupt and incompetent politician, but this does not mean there were no anomalies in the purchases. Gordon’s motives, deeds, and character are not the issue, and are therefore irrelevant.
