In contrast to the scrimping that was applied to the budget proposals of many critical agencies, the Office of the President was granted a whopping P8.182 billion budget, half of which was earmarked for intelligence and confidential funds that are beyond public scrutiny.” The House appropriations committee approved that bonanza to the big boss “in three minutes flat,” the editorial “Warped priorities” (9/7/21) observed.
There it is, as clear as daylight. All that moolah for the President to spend any way he wants without any accountability. Buying national elections in this country is not really that expensive. One or two billion would do. Barya-barya lang sa madlang pipol pwede na! With more than P8 billion at Mr. Duterte’s sole disposal, may sako-sakong sukli pa — not to mention the plunder also in tens of billions that the corrupt officials he has firmly put in place in the various departments of his government have been doing.
For the love of God, when will the Filipino people ever wake to all the BS this regime has been foisting on them? Still giving Mr. Duterte a 90-percent “approval rating”? As the late senator Miriam Santiago would say: “Give me a break”!
