Let Pacquiao train in peace

Sen. Manny Pacquiao has been the object of attacks focusing on his ability to lead, his absenteeism at the House of Representatives and the Senate, his health, and his education.

The issues raised are valid. They should be clarified. After all, he is apparently running for president.

I strongly suggest, however, that these questions should be raised and clarified after his Aug. 21 fight with Errol Spence Jr. Pacquiao has brought honor to the country. He should be allowed to prepare for his fight without these distractions.

Attacks on our boxing icon while he is training for his bout will demean us before the eyes of the world. Let Pacquiao concentrate on his upcoming fight. He should be allowed to train in peace.
