What has happened to Cayetano?

/ 04:02 AM July 06, 2021

Taguig-Pateros Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano was reported as saying there’s no doubt in his mind that President Duterte “will be a good vice president” if he decides to run (“‘Lust for power, fear fuels Duterte’s VP run,’” 7/3/21) — a post “Palace Pinnochio” Harry Roque once described as nothing but a “spare tire” or, in the eyes of many, a wallflower. So, Cayetano, take your pick and tell the people where you think your master can best serve them—in the trunk of a car or on the wall of Malacañang?

We used to admire Cayetano for his anti-corruption and graft-busting crusade when he was a senator, going relentlessly after the corrupt administration of former president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and her husband. What in God’s name has happened to him? Has he become so power-hungry and corrupt himself that he would now have no problem stooping to that level of idiocy?
