The question of whether we should wear face shields always and everywhere depends on how far the vaccination program is progressing.
The more people are vaccinated, the more relaxed and clear the situation becomes. I think everyone who has been vaccinated twice can probably do without a face shield — but not without a face mask. Therefore, we should convince as many people as possible to get vaccinated quickly, and get the ivermectin nonsense out of their heads. Who wants to take this medicine for the rest of their life and not even know whether it really protects them individually?
New Zealand, Australia, Israel — even Wuhan in China — can serve as models where normality is returning. The Delta variant that first appeared in India could be a game-changer; it is said to be up to 60 percent more contagious and more dangerous. I fear a “normal” Christmas will not happen in 2021 under this grim scenario. Let us hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.
The priority now is the mass vaccination of the population. Everything else is secondary.
