Despite stories of China’s encroachment into our exclusive economic zone becoming daily fodder in the media, only a few of us are willing to protest. Some would rather set the issue aside for survival and patronage.
We have leaders who are comfortable cavorting with the intruders, but there are also those who are unafraid.
While we know too well that we cannot fight toe to toe with a superpower, we have to remind the trespassers of our resistance. Even if we are a small country and short of weapons, we must continue to express our disdain.
If we remain docile and submissive to a bully, we will be bullied and branded as pushovers. We cannot, with a clear conscience, allow subservience to be the permanent national mindset. That defeats the idea of sovereignty.
