Another ‘jet ski’ gesture
If the President makes good his intent of leading the Russian vaccine trial queue, disastrous results are possible. It might win him a hero’s crown, an irresistible idea, and even improve his international reputation. It would also provide incontrovertible proof of Russia’s enduring villainy — a service to geopolitical and humanitarian institutions.
An extreme measure, but as someone said, there is logic in madness. But this is surely surpassed by the indifference to the potential sacrifice of countless lives on the altar of Russian political ends. That is diabolical.
However, all this might yet just be another “jet ski” gesture, made boldly because national security would most possibly advise against it.
