All this hullabaloo about quo warranto has, indeed, brought back memories of how former Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno was “kangarooed” by the supermajority of the Supreme Court justices appointed by President Duterte who was hell-bent on kicking her out of that court, by hook or by crook, for being always in his crosshairs.
Rumor had it that Sereno’s picture in the hallowed gallery of chief justices of the Supreme Court was taken down after her supposedly ignominious appointment as such was declared null and void. So, was her picture in the gallery of associate justices also taken down as if she was never a member of the Court?
This time around, it was confirmed that as the 169th associate justice, Sereno’s picture has remained on the wall. Is that not then a clear testament to the fact that she should still be considered a member of the Court since she is far from the compulsory retirement age of 70?
Why has this grotesque scenario gone unnoticed?
