Clueless officials put people at risk

/ 05:02 AM January 30, 2020

This pertains to the editorial, “No laughing matter” (1/25/2020).

Why do we elect public officials who are clueless of their primordial mandate to protect and promote the welfare of their constituency? It is exasperating to read of ill-informed local officials finding fault with the considered counsel of Dr. Renato Solidum, Phivolcs chief. If I may suggest, to settle the issue raised by unthinking local officials, let those that defy the departmental order be allowed to return to their respective places and put their lives in harm’s way—provided they sign waivers under the oversight of the Department of the Interior and Local Government, and the Department of Social Welfare and Development indicating that no one shall be held responsible if they get buried by lava.

Solidum genuinely cares for the people of Batangas. Kung magsaliksik lang sila sa pagkatao ng Phivolcs chief, malalaman nila may dugong Batangueño din ang taong kinukutya nila.
