Thank you, Ambeth R. Ocampo, for your columns reminding us always of our heroes. Until now, I’m not sure who really is the greatest among the brave men and women who fought for our independence and national identity.
And thank you, Ramon J. Farolan, for your column on Dec. 2, 2019, “Killing Bonifacio, ‘Killing Patton.’’’ Yes, Jose Rizal roamed the world propagating the revolution, but was finally cornered by the Spaniards and executed by Filipinos. The father of the revolution, Andres Bonifacio, and his loyal revolutionaries including Gen. Antonio Luna, were killed by Emilio Aguinaldo and his Filipino cohorts.
May I repeat what Farolan said: “When Filipinos stop killing Filipinos, only then would we be able to make meaningful progress as a nation.” But unfortunately, sir, killers are more popular in our country than those praying for life. Very sad, isn’t it?
