Remembering Doña Paz

We are once again remembering the death of our loved ones—all those who perished in the worst sea tragedy of all time, the sinking of the MV Doña Paz when it collided with an oil tanker in Tablas Strait in Mindoro on Dec. 20, 1987.

It’s now 32 years since the death of my beloved parents and sister. There were no words of farewell spoken and no time to say goodbye; they were gone before we knew it, and only God knows why. We know they are gone, but they are not forgotten. And although we are apart from each other, their spirit continues to live within us and forever in our hearts.

May this season of Christmas bring faith, hope and inspiration to all, especially to families who are in pain and sorrow over the loss of their loved ones, and to people who are still waiting for justice to be served on their behalf.
