This is in response to the editorial “Tulfo justice” (11/29/19).
The show “Raffy Tulfo in Action” has managed to capture the attention of the public and their desire for justice—and entertainment. The show acts as the alternative justice system for the people through its iconic “swift” justice and public shaming. We cannot blame the public for their interest in the show, because this is clearly a result of our severely dysfunctional rule of law. Why would they even file a case in court, which can take much time and cost a lot of money, when they can just call on Tulfo’s program?
But is the show’s brand of “justice” fair, with all that harsh public humiliation? Is it even based on justice? The sad truth is, our public will resort to these kinds of shows as long as our justice system remains impaired.
