Justice Carpio’s sterling record

04:01 AM November 06, 2019

Richard Heydarian’s article about the zero-backlog left by “the best chief justice we never had” in recent years (“Antonio Carpio: Our one-man Justice League,” 10/29/19) should put to shame most of the sitting justices of the Supreme Court who always find excuses for their lackluster performance. More so those who have retired and are now enjoying full monetary benefits (in the tens of millions) despite having left behind thousands of unresolved cases.

That Carpio had been the only voice in the high court to denounce China for its creeping invasion and occupation of territories in the West Philippine Sea that belong to us speaks of the spinelessness of the other members of that court. What kind of example are they showing to the entire nation?

Is it because they know nothing about that issue of great national security import, or are they just too scared to incur the wrath of President Duterte, who is best friends with and has already sold us out to China?
