Locsin’s defeatist stance

/ 05:01 AM September 26, 2019

It is a sign of defeat. This is my take on the recent statement of Foreign Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. that the Philippines stands to lose in the United Nations if it raises the arbitral award (“Locsin on raising arbitral award: We will lose in UN,” Inquirer.net, 9/19/19).

We are indeed on the losing end when this declaration comes from the country’s top diplomat. The last time I checked, he should be the one to continue to assert the arbitral award of the Philippines, aside from President Duterte.

The last thing ordinary Filipinos would like to hear from their top diplomat is the surrender of our sovereign rights in the West Philippine Sea. If Locsin has nothing good to say, he should keep his mouth shut.
