Limit car ownership

05:01 AM August 13, 2019

I do not think that the provincial bus ban is an efficient solution to the traffic on Edsa.

I read an article stating that there are more than 11 million vehicles registered in the Philippines as of 2018, according to the Land Transportation Office. Nearly 500,000 of those vehicles are private cars, while almost 15,000 are buses, based on December 2016 data.

Assuming that at least a quarter of those vehicles pass Edsa, it is still a lot for the road to accommodate. Despite the coding, I suggest that the government limit the amount of vehicles registered per individual. The number coding policy only pushes some citizens to buy more cars so they won’t be bothered by this scheme.
