Inspiring move of former officials

05:01 AM April 02, 2019

The daring move of former ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales and former foreign secretary Albert del Rosario to file a complaint in the International Criminal Court against Chinese President Xi Jinping for alleged crime of aggression in the West Philippine Sea is indeed edifying and inspiring.

As Richard Heydarian in his column (“The courage of hopelessness,” 3/26/19) put it, “Instead of engaging in snobbery and self-satisfied lamentations, these brave souls (referring to Morales and Del Rosario) are risking everything to fight for a better Philippines under the most hopeless conditions imaginable. That is, indeed, true courage that inspires hope.”
