Indeed, the 11-floor office building, with a total floor area of 8.5 hectares, which the Philippine Senate is putting up in due course at the Bonifacio Global City, cannot escape strong public condemnation.
Let us not talk about how much it would cost when finally completed; as of now, that is still highly debatable.
Let us just multiply 8.5 hectares by 10,000 and divide the result by 24, or simply divide 24 by 11. Our senators are giving themselves 3,540-plus square meters each for an office.
Merely two senators would be occupying one whole floor! Alas and alack, if that is not wild extravagance in using people’s money, I do not know what is. Do our senators think they are kings and queens?
