Pure business?

This is in reference to the water crisis that is being experienced by residents of different cities in the National Capital Region and some other parts of Rizal province.

I am a Mandaluyong resident and my question is — why now?

Yes, it’s almost summertime. Yes, there are reports that El Niño is here. But the water concessionaires should have been prepared for this. They should have made plans in addressing the problem.

I think it wasn’t just lack of preparation but rather an opportunity that these concessionaires may have seen to demand an increase in water rates in the coming days or months.

They will take advantage of this situation; for them it is pure business.
