Illegal and immoral

The number of illegal Chinese workers in the country is very alarming. I am aware that President Duterte is trying to please the Chinese government when he said that it is “okay” for Chinese workers to stay here. However, with the limited job opportunities in the Philippines and with higher competition, Filipinos are left unemployed.

Lawmakers have expressed their concern about the issue and asked the Department of Foreign Affairs and Bureau of Immigration to deport those illegal workers. But Mr. Duterte did
not agree on the proposition, citing
that there are 400,000 Filipinos working in China and he is afraid of Beijing’s
retaliatory action.

I understand the concerns of the President. But the Philippine government must send a clear message
that these illegal workers should be
deported. Aliens who violate the Labor Code of the Philippines must face the consequences of their actions. What they are doing is illegal and immoral.

I believe the violations of these illegal workers must be dealt with severely, and that concerned government officials must enforce the rule of law.
