I’d like to believe that the primary duty of Malacañang’s spokesperson is to explain in simple terms government policies that are not easily understood by ordinary citizens.
This is so because government policies of national importance are usually couched in hifalutin phraseology.
However, when the chief executive, in the course of his speeches, dishes out narratives concerning his past in a clear, serious and straightforward manner, the spokesperson has no business editing out his boss’ personal account, as the President alone is privy to such incident narrated by him; neither should he supplant the actual utterances of the President with his own interpretation of them.
Otherwise, the clear intent of whatever the chief executive wishes to convey is necessarily lost.
Such practice should not be encouraged, as it amounts to one’s credulity getting strained by an overdose of a spin master’s brazenness.
