Time for farm tourism to flourish
It was nice reading and re-reading Maricar Cinco’s “It’s more fun—and profitable— with farm tourism, Puyat hopes” (9/2/18).
I favor the proposal of Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo Puyat to encourage ordinary farmers to engage in farm tourism. This could help keep the agriculture sector sustainable.
Agriculture plays a big role in addressing the needs of tourists: “What will I eat?” The next thing tourists ask after arriving is: “Where will I eat?” Farm tourism can show tourists the journey of their food—how local dishes are prepared from farm to table.
It is high time farm tourism flourished in the Philippines.
