Exploiting democratic weaknesses

Instead of nurturing, President Duterte seems to cynically exploit the weaknesses of our young democracy, steering it toward dictatorship.

Years ago when the Filipino people saw the light, the world admired and called what we did “people power.”

I suppose in today’s climate of kangaroo courts, officialdom would call it treason.

It might be salutary to recall the observation that one can’t fool all the people all of the time, especially when they go hungry.
