Hotdog music will live on

I had the opportunity to meet Rene Garcia of the Hotdog band for the first time in person early this year, when I had my vinyl copy of their first album, “Unang Kagat,” signed by him. I wish I had met him earlier, because our meeting made a lasting impression. Rene was very gracious, warm,  friendly and smart.

The fame that comes with success that he and his brother, Dennis (the other half of the Hotdog band), experienced never spoiled him or made him entitled.

The last time I saw Rene was in the art exhibit of Dennis. He was the first one to greet me. How humble, I thought.

You deserve all the best, Rene. Many thanks to you and Dennis for making the ’70s one of the best decades in which to grow up. Your music will live on.
