What’s behind those tarpaulins

No matter how you look at it, those tarpaulins with signs saying that the Philippines is “a province of China” are a manifestation of civil unrest. It is a sign that citizens are not dumb and can see where the country is heading. People are finally reacting to the criminality and culture of impunity pervasive in our society today, albeit slowly, but inexorably.

It was President Duterte, after all, who raised the idea that our country may well be a province of China.

But I object to the reaction of presidential spokesperson Harry Roque that the opposition was behind those tarpaulins. Why can’t it be the work of a private, apolitical citizen fed up with the lies, fake news and curses from the top, as well as the kowtowing to the Chinese militarization of our waters?

Like me. And you.
