Legalistic approach

I have noticed that when it comes to conflict of interest, Solicitor General Jose Calida prefers the legalistic approach.

So to solve his problem, he resigns from his security agency.  Who remains? His whole family, from whom he of course benefits.

The spirit of the law on conflict of interest is aimed at  preventing corruption.

The positive side is to remind our officials (elected or appointed) to strive to be models of integrity, patriotism, generosity in their service for the common good.

FEATURED STORIES

Unfortunately, Calida is only one of many who would use the legalistic approach. How sad for our country.   No wonder we have been left behind. And our poor continue to be poor.
