Misinformed Sotto

Sen. Tito Sotto expressed concern that international human rights organizations are not condemning the gang rapes occurring in India.  If the senator only did some research, he would not have made such a bold claim.

Human Rights Watch, for instance, issued a report, “Invisible victims of sexual violence,” last month where it investigated and documented gang rapes and recommended to the government what must be done for the victims.

Amnesty International, as early as 2015, helped in enlisting 100,000 Indians to sign a petition condemning gang rape and urging the government to take immediate action to stop the crime.  Amnesty International-India created a website in 2017 called “Halt the Hate” to monitor hate crimes.

Before claiming something, Senator Sotto should check his facts.
