Confronting home truths

Congratulations for the superb pooled editorial (“Speak truth to power, keep power in check,” 5/3/18).

Those home truths remind us of the need to maintain the freedom needed by us ordinary citizens to have some self-respect amid all the corruption and malversation emanating from our President and his cronies.

The editorial on the Japanese refusal to face up to their having prostituted many Filipino women during World War II is brilliant and apropos (“The missing statue,” 5/3/18).
