‘Excellent defense’

05:03 AM April 30, 2018

I wish to commend your editorial “Fox” (4/27/18). It is an excellent defense of Sister Patricia Fox’s work of many years with the poor and underprivileged, as well as her and everyone’s right to free speech regardless of being a foreigner or a local citizen.

Speech is the means people use to communicate the truth to one another. And truth always helps people to improve their lives, even if that truth hurts, as in the case of just and constructive criticism.

Of course, if the criticism is untruthful, prejudiced or malicious, then its source must be corrected. We must all learn to take criticism, discern its validity and, thus, learn from it.
