Turning PH into a ‘virtual province’

Many thanks for a brilliant analysis from that erudite diplomat (“For a few pieces of silver,” Inquirer, 2/13/18). Narciso Reyes Jr. hits the nail squarely on the head about President Duterte’s actions of bending over for China.

He put it succinctly by writing: “By capitulating to China, Malacañang has only emboldened it — and rewarded its bad behavior.”

Indeed we are now reaping what this administration has sown.

Mr. Duterte’s pivot toward China has turned the Philippines into a virtual province of our giant neighbor.

So no one should wonder about the continuing corruption and demoralization in this country, which may as well be called, not RP (Republic of the Philippines), but “RPI” (Republic of P*tang Ina).
