Not everyone can be multilingual

Claude Lucas Despabiladeras rightly points out the crude and crass behavior on TV of actor Robin Padilla toward a Korean (“‘English shaming’ on TV,” Letters, 1/17/17). It denotes lack of education and manners for someone to publicly insult a hapless foreigner in one’s midst, particularly by an individual who himself is a graduate of the penitentiary.

Not only do South Koreans, who come from a developed country, invest much in our nation, many of them are practising Christians. Which must make it hard as hell for them to forgive our government for letting the case of the atrocious murder of one of their nationals keep dragging on. Does the smart-alecky Padilla realize any of this?

There are many people around the world who simply cannot master foreign languages.

No one’s perfect, least of all the preening Padilla who surely wouldn’t know how to behave properly if he lived in a foreign country.
