The film portrays many of us

It may take a poet to grasp the depth of the movie’s message. But one need only be awake or awakened while watching in order to appreciate the plot and enjoy the dialogues.

Awarded best picture, “Ang Larawan” is a uniquely moving showpiece. Joanna Ampil’s outstanding performance as Candida simply amazes me.

I nearly missed watching the movie on its last day of screening. Thus, I’m grateful, and am heartened to know that a Filipino masterpiece film is still possible these days.

Congratulations “Ang Larawan” for remarkably sketching many of us (especially those in government and business) who seem to have fully abandoned virtues in the pursuit of power and materialism.

Look, “Ang Larawan” is a mirror rather than a portrait.
