Here’s another constitutional amendment that’s absolutely necessary:
The required qualifications for the Philippine president need to be upgraded.
Presently, our Constitution states that the president must be a natural-born Filipino citizen — a registered voter able to read and write, at least 40 years old on election day and a Philippine resident for at least 10 years before the election.
I recently sent my application (with the above qualifications) for any supervisory position in five very small corporations. I got five rejection letters back—some with nasty comments.
What is my point?
The Philippine president is the CEO of our country’s top corporation — the government.
And we require only that the president be able… to read and write!
And we wonder why our country was run by an ex-actor and a mama’s boy. Ridiculous.
