Clarity of purpose

/ 05:00 AM December 09, 2017

President Duterte should know that to succeed with a revolutionary government, he should have the support and recognition of the international community .

How would you gain sympathy, understanding and approval if your mouth is full of anger, trashing and maligning outstanding and respected people from Europe and the United States?

Cory Aquino declared a revolutionary government in 1986 to clean Marcos’ mess while a new constitution was still being crafted to install a democratic government.

On the other hand, Mr. Duterte will declare a revolutionary government to clean the mess of his kin and friends, police killings and other skeletons in the closet, and maybe to continue his rule like how Marcos declared martial law to perpetuate his power.

A revolutionary government should have a clarity of purpose. If you don’t have the full support of the military, most likely your revolutionary government is doomed to fail. And if you don’t have the people’s support, it will likely succeed only temporarily.
