Underpayment of SSS benefits

/ 05:10 AM October 13, 2017

The undersigned, Pacifica T. De Vera, is the legal wife (surviving spouse) of the late Bernardino de Vera, a Social Security System member who died in February 2003.

Thirty-eight months before he died, he was granted partial disability (employees’ compensation/SSS) from 2000-2003. His SSS death benefit pension is about P9,000 a month while his employees’ compensation death benefit is about P7,000 a month. The beneficiary was paid about P5,000 a month only, a great underpayment.

This is due to noninclusion of premiums from 1985-1990, a total of 72 months.

The employees’ compensation adjustment should start from 2000, or the year he was granted partial disability, to the present. The SSS adjustment was paid in June 2013. Four years na po ang lumipas, hindi pa adjusted ang employees’ compensation and death benefit under Presidential Decree No. 626.

I hope this reaches SSS president Emmanuel Dooc to prod his subordinates to rectify this
underpayment.
