More teeth for IBP

With the ongoing impeachment of the Chief Justice, it’s time for the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) to move for its separation from the Supreme Court.

Clearly, the Supreme Court needs a body that can check its action and the most competent body to do this is the IBP.

For a long time, the IBP has not actively done its fiscalizing function in relation to the Supreme Court, simply because it is under the high court.

Hopefully, Congress, the President and the leadership of the IBP will find merit on this idea.
