This is in reference to a letter written by Miguel Z. Patolot titled “Chewing gum diplomacy” (Opinion, 9/16/17).

Patolot signed his letter as “vice president for countertrade with Philippine International Trading Corp., and former executive editor, Business Day.”

We wish to set the record straight that Miguel Z. Patolot is no longer connected with Philippine International Trading Corp. (PITC) since Jan. 2, 2000.

Neither has he ever held the position of vice president for countertrade as his last position in PITC was department manager III, countertrade department.
