The Inquirer carried a small news item titled “Samsung head sentenced to 5 yrs in jail” (World, 8/27/17). It reported about the “billionaire head of South Korea’s Samsung Group” being found guilty and sent to jail for five years on charges of corruption. And here’s the most awesome thing: The trial took no more than “six months”! Yes, six months!!
If that “billionaire” were to be prosecuted in this country, it would have taken more than six years to just “investigate” his crime, and 20-30 years to get him convicted, if at all. I don’t know whether we should laugh or cry…
