Reducing the age of criminal responsibility
I read a recent article concerning this issue. As an Englishman now retired to the Philippines, may I share what I know about this matter as it is handled in my country.
In England, the age of criminal responsibility is 10 years old. But the accused is brought before a special youth court and, if sentenced, is sent to a special young offenders’ institution, not to a “proper” jail, until he/she reaches the age of 18.
I just thought Inquirer readers may be interested.
