Frustrated

Now, why was I not surprised when the Supreme Court decided in favor of Torre de Manila?

Can I expect any more from the entity that granted Bongbong Marcos’ request for a vote recount, or allowed Ferdinand Marcos’ remains to be buried at our Libingan ng mga Bayani. (You, dear Reader, can  add to the list).

Do the honorable justices have to be legalistic, claiming that there is no law banning the construction of the tower where it stands?

Is there no other criterion except the articulated law?  How about other values, such as respect for our heritage?

I don’t see the Supreme Court playing its role as a balancing power.  It is more of a reflection of Gloria Arroyo’s appointees.

I am very sad for our country.  How can we extricate ourselves from this feeling of frustration? I know I’m not alone.

SR. NENITA TAPIA, MM
