PH VIPs: ‘entertainment for the world’

/ 12:16 AM April 27, 2017

For some reason, the Inquirer’s front-page photo made me think of the waxed figures in Madam Tussaud’s museum (“VIPs celebrate Erap’s 80th birthday,” 4/21/17). With the impassive expressions on these “VIPs’” cosmetic faces and dyed black hair, these creatures looked like the products of a taxidermist who froze them in arrogant poses for eternity.

Perhaps the tableau should be sculpted in stone on that hillside on which Ferdinand Marcos once perched (and thankfully has since been demolished). What wonderful satirical tales we ordinary citizens could weave about all these former and present rulers. Obviously this feudal country is destined to have more “colorful” characters like those “VIPs” to keep providing entertainment for the world.
