President Duterte should be commended for being true to his campaign promise to rid the Philippines of corruption, criminality and illegal drugs.
Mr. Duterte’s recent firing of Cabinet-ranked officials accused of corruption and wrongdoing shows that there are no sacred cows among his presidential appointees.
For now, Mr. Duterte should start building bridges of communication with the foreign media and international organizations critical of his administration. He should go, if possible, on a media blitz by hiring a respectable, competent and reputable public relations consultant abroad to counter the negative publicity resulting from the so-called extrajudicial killings.
His administration should show the world the true Philippines of today—a progressive and peaceful country that we could all be proud of.
