Never too late to make things right
If not for the stratagem of President Duterte in waging war against illegal drugs, I could have been hopeful that our nation will someday be great.
If not for the President’s brashness, expletives, outbursts and communistic/dictatorial tendencies, I could be one of his ardent supporters by this time. And if not for his “persecution” of those who criticize and oppose his policies and methods, I could have loved to praise him for his positive traits.
Du30, Digong or Rody has the political will we need to make things happen for the Filipino people. And his administration is showing signs, in ways more than one, to be potentially better than those of the previous or last six presidents.

While I am pleased with the President’s resolve to demolish the illegal drug trade, I mourn that drug addicts, along with mere suspects and innocent souls as collateral damage, are being summarily executed or extrajudicially killed. Addicts are victims more than offenders. They are only a menace to society insofar as the government’s failure in meeting their needs for rehabilitation and salvation.
While I am upbeat that the President is equally serious about his intention to fight corruption, criminality, illegal gambling and inequality in our society, I am perturbed that he seems blind to old, new and rising rogues/scalawags in the ranks of the police and military.
Article continues after this advertisementI am glad that the Catholic hierarchy and some protestant churches are now emboldened to speak out against what’s wrong with us, the people, and with our popular president. May Digong be humble enough to hear trumpet sounds and heed the “apocalypse.”
