Dragon paddlers’ victory showed heart of Filipino sportsmen

/ 12:20 AM August 18, 2011

Our congratulations go to the members of the Cobra-Philippine Dragon Boat Federation team for winning five gold medals and two silvers in the recent 10th International Dragon Boat World Championship this August 2011. Not only were the members of the team outstanding athletes—they are soldiers who have made proud not only our country and people but also their fellow soldiers in the Armed Forces of the Philippines. And although their participation in the Dragon Boat competition was very low-key and lacked support, this did not in any way affect their performance, discipline and desire to win.

Their good traits have won the admiration not only of US-based Filipinos in Tampa, Florida, but more importantly, of all Filipinos. Truly we Filipinos rejoice in their victory. For these soldiers-athletes continue to serve our country not only as soldiers but also as sportsmen. Soldiers can really adapt to almost anything in various situations at anytime. Their victory also proved that Filipino sportsmen are not only gifted, but are strong and determined in spirit.

Kudos!
