MY FRATERNAL BROTHER IN MASONRY and compadre Ernesto C. Tabanao, a retired assistant regional director of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, came to my residence and told me about his receipt of a text message on Sept. 10, 2009 from the Government Service Insurance System, which I quote: ?Your Sept. pension is lower than your regular pension. Please expect an adjustment on or before Sept. 23. Thank you for your understanding.? Whatever that meant, Tabanao was somewhat puzzled. He asked me if I had also received the same text message from the GSIS. I told him that I haven?t probably because I had replaced my SIM number due to what seemed to have been known to a syndicate, inside the Bureau of Internal Revenue, Manila, that tried to call me through my cell phone when I was submitting regularly the official receipt numbers issued by business establishments in the province.
To clarify matters, Tabanao would like to know from the horse?s mouth, so to say, what was the real intention of the GSIS in sending him that kind of text message without the sender?s name. Does it also mean that there is syndicate inside the GSIS that prey on innocent pensioners? If other pensioners received the same text message from the GSIS, it is imperative that they ask management the real motive of sending such anomalous text message to pensioners.
