This is a comment on the front page news item titled “Puno moral movement draws jeers and cheers.” (Inquirer, 4/9/09) As a concerned individual, I find nothing wrong about Chief Justice Reynato Puno leading a moral movement that could possibly help enlighten the voters.
As long as it remains apolitical and focused on its main objective, I will personally support the crusade. There is no need for the Chief Justice to resign. The matter is well within his moral responsibility as a public servant.
The demand of some lawmakers that he resign first before engaging himself in this moral crusade is myopic and dumb. There is no other person I know who can lead this crusade with moral authority other than Chief Justice Puno. I can only say to him, “God speed! I am right behind you.”
