History will judge Aquino for apology

Philippine Daily Inquirer

Filed Under: People power, Politics, Graft & Corruption

The record of the Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo administration on corruption, human rights violations and ?democratic setbacks? is so terrible that even former President Corazon Aquino had to apologize [Read story Read story] to Joseph Estrada for her leading role in EDSA People Power II. Cory is even sure that those who participated in EDSA II are likewise sorry for EDSA II.

It is about time that our research institutions, political scientists and people find out the wisdom or folly, popularity or unpopularity of EDSA II.

As an EDSA II participant, I have not an iota of regret for ousting a corrupt, lazy, incompetent and irresponsible president who was subsequently convicted of the heinous crime of plunder. I still dare to believe that our beloved country, in most areas, has done better under the present administration.

Let the scientific and historical facts prove that Cory is wise and truthful in her public apology to Esrada. History and historians will be the ultimate judge.
