Al Gore is a modern-day prophet

Philippine Daily Inquirer
First Posted 02:55:00 07/04/2008

In Justice Isagani Cruz’s June 15 column, titled “Al Gore’s purpose,” he narrated that his daughter Candy gave him a copy of the Nobel Peace Prize Lecture “Our Purpose,” which former US Vice President Al Gore delivered on Dec. 10, 2007 in Oslo, Norway. The statement that “the suicidal death of our planet through the inattention, deliberate neglect, or stupid refusal of its leaders to take the necessary action to save mankind from its tragic end” and “that end is inevitable” is a reminder of prophecies from the Scriptures.

In Matthew 24:29, Jesus says that immediately after the distress of those days, “‘the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.”

Verses 10, 12 and 13 of Peter 2 prophesy state that the heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. We are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness.

In Isaiah 65 verse 17, the Sovereign Lord declares, “Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth.” The son of Zebedee, the Apostle John, who wrote Revelation, in Chapter 1 Verse 1 says: “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away.”

In “Our Purpose” and “An Inconvenient Truth,” Gore presents scientific evidence that has led me to a conclusive assumption that this unblemished and untarnished former US vice president, now the acknowledged international environmentalist, is a modern-day prophet.

Don’t you think so?
