Shameless attempt to rewrite history
The Marcos family continues to be hell-bent on their selfish desire to recapture Malacañang. They now use their plundered wealth to finance hundreds of “trolls” in their shameless attempt to rewrite history.
I was one of the thousands of courageous men and women who experienced arrest and torture during the dark years of the Marcos dictatorship. I join these martial law heroes in opposing this brazen plan of the Marcos family to rule our country again.
Yes, martial law is over. The cruel tyrant is gone. But there were other perpetrators during this gruesome era, and many of them are still around today.
There is a “pseudo-documentary” on YouTube, “Martial Law vs. People Power, the Untold Story,” that extols the supposed accomplishments of the conjugal dictatorship.
It enumerates all those expensive projects like the North Luzon Expressway, the Folk Arts Theater, the Philippine Heart Center, etc. It trumpets the claim that Marcos built more roads, bridges and hospitals than all the previous presidents of the Philippines.
Left unmentioned are the avaricious cronies who, together with the Marcos family, looted the economy through kickbacks and corruption. The Bataan Nuclear Power Plant and the Chico River Dam, funded with loans from the World Bank, were the sources of ill-gotten wealth through bribery and huge debt.
Bongbong Marcos ran for vice president in 2016. Political analysts saw it as a trial balloon of the Marcoses’ campaign to eventually recapture Malacañang. Marcos Jr. was soundly beaten by Leni Robredo but still claims he was cheated. Now his sister Imee is seeking a Senate seat.
We who were arrested and tortured will continue to stand up against these people who dare to revise our history of struggle against tyranny.
