Pacquiao’s about-face no longer cause for surprise

12:06 AM July 27, 2016

Christina P. Goss writes from the Unites States pleading with Sen. Manny Pacquiao for him to stick to his promise to give up boxing (“Another ‘title’ for Pacquiao?” Opinion, 7/22/16).  Of course we know all politicians lie, so his about-face should have come as no surprise. After all, he is such a milking-cow for his predatory family, for his boxing promoter Bob Arum and all those who depend on him for their living that he should not have spoken with such phony bravado earlier.

Furthermore, Pacquaio’s phony religiosity and his loud denunciation of gay people should have shown his true colors to the general mass of Filipinos. But the voters are such a superficial uneducated bunch they traditionally prefer celebrities to serious thinking people to be their lawmakers. Goss should realize this, after all she lives in the United States where the Trump circus clearly demonstrates that a segment of the American population, which prefers him instead of a serious, experienced politician, is just as shallow and uneducated as the Filipinos.
